The FCT Directorate Of Road Traffic Service, DRTS has expressed worries over the activities of Commercial motorcyclists who constantly ride against traffic along the Abuja-Keffi expressway.

The Area Commander, Directorate Of Road Traffic Service in Asokoro, Usman Danlami, who disclosed this during a chat with journalists in Abuja on Tuesday, explained that their acts violate the FCT transportation laws.

The Abuja-Keffi expressway traffic has left many commuters with no option than trekking and using commercial motorcycles to access the city center.

The Directorate Of Road Traffic Service is however advising commercial motorcycle operators to stop riding against traffic as such acts are gross violations of traffic laws.

For both commuters and motorists, the activities of commercial motorcycle operators popularly called “Okada riders” are major causes of road accidents along the Abuja-Keffi expressway.

The people, therefore, appealed to the government to create more access roads to the city center with a view to addressing the heavy vehicular traffic along the Abuja-Keffi way.
