The demand for state recognition for Abuja by the original Inhabitants of the Federal Capital Territory may be far from being over as members representing the Territory say they are determined to continue the pursuit of their legitimate demand.
The Original Inhabitants have been seeking for constitutional alterations to accommodate their demand for a mayoral status and appointment of a cabinet minister from among the indigenes of the Territory.
About three items were put up for debate at the national Assembly by the original Inhabitants of the Federal Capital Territory in the three constitutional alteration exercises in recent time.
Despite their continuous struggle, the status quo has not changed.

The member representing AMAC/ BWARI FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY, Mica Jiba, says they will continue to depend on the available laws to secure their rights as the original Inhabitants of the Federal Capital Territory.
Jiba added that the struggle is for the benefit of all Nigerians
living in the federal Capital Territory.
Abuja is made up of over nine ethnic groups each with its distinct peculiarities hence the call for a mayoral status for the Territory.
