The National Association Of Academic Technologists, NAAT has called on all tertiary institutions in Nigeria to reconsider the idea of increasing fees, noting that an upward review in tuition fees and other academic levies in the face of harsh economic realities could force many indigent students to drop out of school.
The association is also calling for a review of the conditions attached to the proposed students’ loan scheme and wants government to also consider grants for students from humble financial backgrounds.

NAAT President in a communique released at the end of its meeting on the recent dissolution of boards of federal tertiary institutions by President Tinubu, asked government to reverse the decision, arguing that the action is in breach of the miscellaneous act of 2003 as amended, which provides a statutory tenure of governing councils of these institutions hence cannot be dissolved at will like other agencies.
NAAT has also moved against the newly introduced core curriculum minimum academic standards, CCMAS by the National Universities Commission, NUC, saying key stakeholders were not carried along.
