Accord Party members defect to PDP in Oyo State

The Peoples Democratic Party in Oyo State, South-West Nigeria has received thousands of defectors from the Accord Party in Iseyin LGA into its fold. Notable among the defectors is the Immediate past member representing Iseyin-Itesiwaju-Kajola-Iwajowa Federal Constituency, Shina Peller.

Governor Seyi Makinde, represented by his Deputy, Bayo Lawal, after welcoming the new members said the PDP remains a strong and united party in Oyo State, with assurance of winning the forthcoming local government elections in the state.

Lawal urged members of the party, especially in Oke-Ogun and Ogbomoso axis to support and welcome the defectors with open heart, to enable the party sustain its winning records in the state.

In his speech, Shina Peller pointed at the developmental strides and the visionary leadership of Governor Makinde as the reason for him and his followers’ to dump the Accord Party for PDP.

The leadership of the PDP in the state charged the new members to remain loyal and fateful to the party.

The defectors were later presented with the PDP flag as a symbol to confirm their official membership of the party.
