Prioritising quality education and ensuring access to healthcare are critical elements in attaining demographic dividends from a nation’s population.
This was the consensus among economic experts during a sensitization workshop on demographic dividends for Ministries, Departments, and Agencies in Kaduna State, Northwest Nigeria.
The workshop, organised by the Kaduna State Government, with support from the United Nations Population Fund, (UNFPA), served as a platform to review strategies for accommodating population growth, with a focus on education, healthcare, employment, and social infrastructure.
Addressing critical domains such as education and healthcare, the workshop focused on strategic planning that could foster economic growth.

It underlined the importance of having a substantial working population, relative to dependents, to achieve the significance of demographic balance.
UNFPA reaffirmed its commitment to assisting Kaduna State in realising demographic dividends, noting that advancing an agenda to enhance the potential of the youth, will enable them to contribute significantly to productivity.
The collaboration highlights the crucial role of international partnerships, in addressing demographic challenges and fostering sustainable development.
