A total of 2500 households of Konshisha Local Government Area of Benue State are to benefit from the rapid response funding mechanism intervention comprising of food and nonfood by the Action Aid Nigeria.
The intervention is coming following the displacement of thousands as a result of the recent military operation in search of its missing weapons which led to loss of lives and property.
Country Director ActionAid Nigeria, Ene Obi who disclosed this at the Government House Makurdi said the organisation would provide emergency food assistance to the displaced, nonfood items like blankets, jerry cans, buckets, plates, mosquito nets and dignity kits for women and children.
The Country Director while soliciting government support to execute the assignment in Konshisha also said the organisation is ready to rehabilitate broken boreholes in the area to address water needs of the displaced persons.

While appreciating the timely gesture Governor Samuel Ortom equally appreciated stakeholders in the affected areas who assisted in the weapon recovery effort.
The Governor expressed deep concern over the steady increase in the number of IDPs in the State due to renewed and sustained attacks on Benue communities and noted that resources of the state had been overstretched with increased humanitarian crisis.
He directed the State Emergency Management Agency to provide buses for personnel of the Action Aid Nigeria as well as security to be able to carry out their operations effectively.
