Some civil society activists in Benin City, the Edo state capital have taken to the street to protest against an alleged move by Edo state government to borrow twenty billion naira from the stock market exchange.
The group said they are kicking against the loan move because the money could be used to finance the governor’s election in the upcoming September nineteen governorship poll in the state.

In a swift reaction the state government through the special Adviser to the governor on media denied the claims and accused the APC Governorship Candidate Osagie Ize-Iyamu of sponsoring the protest against the incumbent governor.
