Adamawa State chapter of African Democratic Congress (ADC) has welcomed former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and members of the Nigeria National Opposition Coalition to the party but urged them to respect the existing party structure.

State Chairman of the Party, Shehu Yohanna says the choice of African Democratic Congress by Atiku is a sign of better days ahead.

Addressing a press conference in Yola, the ADC State Chairman said while they expect the official entry of the former Vice President and other political heavy weights in the state into the party, ADC’s constitution remains supreme.

He said there is no leadership vacuum in the state chapter and urged the newcomers to support the current State Working Committee, whose tenure runs until December 2026.

Yohanna also said that the African Democratic Congress will field a candidate in a rerun election slated for August this year, to fill in a vacuum created as a result of the passing away of the member representing Ganye constituency at the state house of assembly.

Meanwhile, the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state has said that it is unshaken by Atiku’s alignment with the opposition coalition.

The PDP State Chairman, Tahir Shehu expressed confidence in the party’s resilience and ability to overcome political challenges.
