Adamawa, Bauchi, Kaduna, and Kano states have been told to provide solutions to the low female enrolment in their schools in the face of an increase in the already high rate of school drop outs in the country.
A Non-government Organization said this in Bauchi, at the kickoff of its campaign for the right of every Nigerian child to free, compulsory, and quality basic education.
According to the group, there are 13.5 million children in Nigeria who are unable to access free and quality basic education, with the girl child in the North-Eastern states most affected.

It acknowledged the emergence of COVID 19 in Nigeria which saw most of the schools closed down during the lockdown as having contributed significantly to the numbers.
The Director of School Services, Korijo Buba, welcomed the campaign and said the Bauchi State Government is committed to tackling the problem of out-of-school children in the state.
The non-government organization also urged the North-Eastern states, to commit resources to education, through increased budgetary allocation.
