Adamawa community protests alleged release of suspected kidnappers

Residents of Gire town in Adamawa State, North-East Nigeria are accusing the police of plots to set some suspected kidnappers free.

They took to the streets to protest threatened to take the laws into their hands if the police fail to fight against kidnapping in their community.

They say information has it that the police intend to release some of the suspected kidnappers, even when there are glaring evidences against them.

The Commissioner of Police in the State, Adamu Madaki says, the people misunderstood their operation, to charge the kidnappers to court.

Girei Local Government Area has recorded several cases of kidnapping, with university dons from the Modibo Adama University of Technology Girei not spared.
