From the Tribunal

Adamawa Governorship election petition tribunal sitting in Yola affirms the election of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State, earlier challenged by the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Aishatu Dahiru.

The affirmation was done Saturday by the tribunal after dismissing the petition filed by the APC Candidate.

In a 175 page document Judgement, the presiding judge of the tribunal, Justice Theodore Uloho, addressed the petitions one after the other as submitted.

On the initial declaration of APC Candidate Aishatu Dahiru by the embattled Resident Electoral Commissioner of the state Hudu Yunusa Ari, Justice Uloho described it as illegal, stating that the resident electoral Commissioner has no right to usurp the constitutional duties of the returning officer, thereby making the said announcement.

On the accusation of overvoting, malpractice, and violence, the court holds that the petitioner has failed to prove it as no evidences were advanced to that regard.

She thereafter went ahead to dismiss the petition for lack of merit and upholds the victory of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri.

Speaking to journalists after the ruling, counsel to the petitioner Sani Garba said, they will go back to the drawing board to decide their next line of action.

Also speaking, Counsel to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri Damian Dodo SAN commended the court for the ruling.

Meanwhile, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has said that his victory at the tribunal is an energizer for him to do more for the state in terms of development.
