The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva has commissioned some projects funded by the oil and gas sector, as an intervention in the six states of the Northeast region, bedevilled by the Boko Haram insurgency.

The projects which are mostly located at the Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital Yola, are meant to cushion the effects of the infrastructural deficit, occasioned by terrorists’ activities in the zone.

Some of the projects commissioned by the minister include the Radiology Complex at the Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital, Yola, and the overhauling of the Nana Asma’u Maternal Referral Centre, as well as that of Ajiya Clinic, all in Yola.

The minister also supervised some ongoing projects at the Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital, including the construction of an Intensive Care Unit, a Histopathology Laboratory Unit and a Neonatal Unit.

He said the intervention was done to upgrade the hospital to its new global standard.

The State Minister of Petroleum Resources who announced that Adamawa State will benefit from about 58 Oil and Gas Intervention Projects, added that the interventions are part of efforts, to rehabilitate and reconstruct the Northeast region.

He said the Radiology Complex commissioned at the Teaching Hospital Yola, has a CT-Scanner, a Neonatal Unit, Resident Doctor’s Quarters, Digital Radio, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, (MRI) and a Histopathology Unit.

The Chief Medical Director of the Hospital, Professor Auwal Abubakar, was elated about the developments.

The minister thereafter paid a courtesy call on Governor Fintiri, where matters of furthering the state’s development were discussed.
