The people of Madagali Local Government Area in Adamawa State have requested Governor Ahmadu Fintiri to upgrade their chiefdom to a First Class status.

The request was presented during a courtesy call on the governor

Madagali Local Government Area was the worst hit by Boko Haram in Adamawa State during the peak of the terror group’s insurgency.

It has traditionally been headed by a District Head who is answerable to the Emir of Mubi.

It is the home town of the current governor of the state, Ahmadu Fintiri, and is one of the five local government areas that make up Adamawa Northern Senatorial Zone.

The team leader during the courtesy call on the governor was a one-time governor of the state w also from Madagali Local Government Area, Bala Ngillari.

He said it is high time Madagali became a First-class Chiefdom, having possessed all it takes to have a paramount ruler, spearheading its traditional institutions.

Governor Fintiri thanked the Madagali people for the visit, and called on them to embrace unity and love for development.

He assured them the state government will continue to pursue the will of the masses, which he described as the core of governance.

Other key players from Madagali in attendance at the meeting include a former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Saleh Kinjir, and the Chairman of the Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission, Mohammed Umar, who commended the governor for restoring normalcy in the area, previously affected by the Boko Haram insurgency.
