Former Vice President , former Minister of Transportation and former Managing Director of FSB International Bank have appeared before the African Democratic Congress, ADC, presidential screening panel ahead of the 2027 general election.
The panel, chaired by former Cross River State Governor , screened the aspirants behind closed doors in Abuja as part of the party’s presidential nomination process.
During his appearance before the panel, Atiku Abubakar presented what his camp described as a bold economic recovery blueprint alongside a comprehensive security plan aimed at tackling Nigeria’s worsening economic and security challenges.
Although the former vice president did not speak with journalists after the exercise, a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, described the screening as more than a routine party process, saying it provided an opportunity to present proposals focused on job creation, private sector growth, fiscal discipline and macroeconomic stability.
Speaking after his screening, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen expressed confidence in the credibility of the process and said he was prepared for whichever mode of candidate selection the party eventually adopts.
As of the time of filing this report, Rotimi Amaechi had yet to appear before the panel. However, a member of the committee who requested anonymity told AIT that the former Rivers State governor was still expected before the end of the exercise.
The ADC is expected to conclude the screening process ahead of consultations that will determine whether the party adopts a consensus arrangement or conducts direct primaries to choose its presidential candidate for the 2027 election.
