Nigeria’s quest for a fourth Africa Nations Cup title will begin in Group A at the 34th edition of the competition scheduled for Cote’d’Ivoire next year.
The three-time champions were drawn against the host nation and two-time winners Cote d’Ivoire, Guinea-Bissau, and Equatorial Guinea at the draw ceremony on Thursday in Abidjan.
Nigeria last won the competition a decade ago when the late Stephen Keshi-coached side lifted the trophy in 2013 in South Africa almost two decades after the country won its second title in 1994 in Tunisia.
Another decade down the line, the current Super Eagles squad led by Portuguese coach Jose Peseiro has adopted the mantra let’s do it again in their quest for a fourth title.
CAF president Patrice Motsepe, in his remarks at the draw ceremony, expressed confidence that Côte d’Ivoire will host a successful tournament.
Reigning champions, the Teranga Lions of Senegal, are in Group C alongside five-time winners Cameroon, Guinea, and the Gambia in what has been dubbed the Group of death.

Tournament most successful nation Egypt, with seven titles are in Group B and will compete alongside Ghana, Cape Verde, and Mozambique.
Morocco who reached the semi-final at the last FIFA World Cup in Qatar are yet to win the Afcon title, the Atlas lions will compete in Group F along with winners in 2012 Zambia, DR Congo, and Tanzania.
Group D has Algeria, 2013 finalists Burkina Faso, Mauritania, and Angola, while Tunisia, Mail, South Africa, and Namibia will compete In Group E.
The 34th Afcon will hold in six centers across five centers in Cote Divoire from January 11 to February 13.
