Victor Osimhen scores a brace as Nigeria’s Super Eagles thrash Mambas of Mozambique 4-nil in the Round of 16 of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON.
Osimhen thought he had opened the scoring in the third minute, but his effort was ruled out for offside.
Ademola Lookman then gave Nigeria the lead in the 20th minute, before Osimhen doubled the advantage five minutes later to send the Super Eagles into halftime with a 2–nil lead.
Nigeria continued where they left off after the break, as Osimhen completed his brace just two minutes into the second half. Akor Adams sealed the emphatic victory in the 75th minute.
The Super Eagles will now await either Algeria or DR Congo in the quarter-finals.
Earlier, Mohamed Salah scored in the final minute of extra time as Egypt defeated Benin Republic 3–1 to advance to the last eight.
The Pharaohs will face the winner of the encounter between Côte d’Ivoire and Burkina Faso.
