African Leaders On Provision Of Quality Education

African Leaders have emphasised the importance of providing quality education to children across Africa if the continent must stand at par with the developed continents of the world.

This emphasis was made at the 2024 edition of the Goodluck Jonathan Democracy Dialogue which was hosted by the Edo State Government in Benin City.

Former President of Benin Republic, Boni Yayi; former President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta, former Vice President of Zambia, Dr. Nevers-Sekwila Mumba, former Vice President of Nigeria, Namadi Sambo are among eminent personalities at the event.

The African leaders presented their goodwill messages with a call for huge investments in education across the continent.

Governor Godwin Obaseki and the chairman and founder of the GJF, former President Goodluck Jonathan noted the importance of harnessing potentials of the younger generations through provision of quality learning.

Nigeria’s Minister of Education, Mamman Tahir informed the audience that the President Tinubu led Federal Government is working hard to return children to school.

The Chief Academic Officer, Maarifa Education Holding and Chairman of the University Council, Cavendish University, Uganda, Professor Olubayi Olubayi, presented the keynote address.

He believes that special attention must be given to the education of gifted children.

Other speakers including the Oba Of Benin, Oba Ewuare the second, Presidential Candidate of Labour Party in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi and wife of the former President of Nigeria from 2010 to 2015, Patience Jonathan also shared their opinions on the subject of discourse.

There was a plenary session for key players in the education sector.
The Goodluck Jonathan Foundation is an independent non-governmental organisation established to advance peace and prosperity on the African continent.
