Following incidences of flood which left five local government areas of Bauchi state devastated, a consortium of International Non- Governmental Organizations under the African Activist for Climate Justice has organized a football competition for youths in Gamawa local government with the aim of creating awareness on the dangers of Climate change.
Gamawa is one of the local government areas that was mostly affected by floods in Bauchi state this year.
According to residents, over seven people, fifteen cows were reported to have been killed with over 500 houses, farmlands submerged by the flood.
Barely a month after, this is the situation of the flood disaster here in Gamawa local government which led to the total collapse of this federal highway.
The Road, links Bauchi state to Hadeja kafin Zaki, down to Kano state, a portion was washed away by the flood, leading to loss of lives and properties.

It is against this backdrop that this Non governmental organization has strategized ways of creating awareness by organizing this football competition in Gamawa local government area.
The football competition which took them to penality shoot out saw the winner emerging with prizes of tree seedling per player for them to plant in order to fight desert encroachment and other environmental challenges due to the effect of climate change.
After the match, over 3,000 seedlings were distributed to the participating players as part of the awareness campaign on Climate challenge.
