Again, Gunmen Abduct Ex-NBA President, Okey Wali in Port Harcourt

A former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Okey Wali (SAN) has been kidnapped by unknown persons in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

A statement issued by NBA President, Yakubu Maikyau says Wali was abducted in the early hours of Monday, April 17, 2023 after his convoy was allegedly attacked along East-West Road, in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, one of his security men was reportedly killed during the attack.

Maikyau who also pleaded with the abductors to release the former NBA president, noted that the weakness in the security system and failure of successive governments to live up to their Constitutional duty of securing lives and property the welfare must be swiftly addressed

He however urged the Inspector-General of Police and the Commissioner of Police in Rivers State to leave no stone unturned as they work towards the safe release of Okey Wali

This is the second time that the former NBA president will be abducted. He was kidnapped on October 11, 2014 and released on October 24, having spent 13 days in the custody of the abductors

Okey Wali, SAN was the 26th President of the NBA and has served his country in varying capacities, contributing immensely to the growth of legal practice and in the promotion and entrenchment of the rule of law.

He is a known philanthropist who has helped in the development of his community in no small measure
