Agriculture: Nigeria, Sierra Leone Explore Strategies to Boost Food Security

Nigeria and Sierra Leone are exploring strategies in the Agricultural sector to boost food security in their countries and across the continent.

At a Conference held at the headquarters of the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture, ibadan, the two countries highlighted roadmaps for integrating research-driven innovations and inclusive agribusiness models to boost food security and economic growth

Sierra Leonean President and his entourage were in Ibadan, Oyo State, South West Nigeria to seek ways to boost and improve food systemy in Sierra Leone.

Nigeria’s Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, represented by Dr Markus Ogunbiyi promised a deeper collaboration between Nigerian and the Sierra Leonean government.

Similarly, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde who spoke on how agriculture has transformed the State, noted that food security will improve the country’s economy, create jobs, advance technology and reduce insecurity in the African continent.

Diplomatic sources told ait.live that the Presidential visit is aimed at strengthening partnerships, foster innovation and mobilize investments to accelerate and address food insecurity and malnutrition in Sierra Leone.
