According to Ibrahim, the state government had received information from neighbouring states, and the Niger Republic, of the outbreak of bird flu.

This informed why the Governor Bello Mohammed’s administration is being proactive, to prevent the disease.

He described avian influenza as highly contagious and deadly to birds and human beings.

The Commissioner for Information, Ibrahim Dosara, enjoined the residents of the state to continue to be supportive of the state government, to ensure it curtails the outbreak of the bird flu in order to protect live birds in the state.

The Commissioners urged poultry farmers and dealers to maintain hygiene, proper disposal of dead birds, disinfect poultry houses and farms regularly, to prevent the virus from making its way into the state.
