The Accident Investigation Bureau has forwarded a bill to the National Assembly to review its existing act and proposing more than 10years jail term for offenders who tampered with evidence at the plane crash site.
The Chief executive officer of the bureau, Akin Olateru made this known in Abuja at the presentation of the remaining 4 out of the 31 final plane crashes reports and 9 safety recommendations out of 108 in 3 years during an oversight visit by the Senate committee on ICT and cybercrime.
The senate committee was at the headquarters of the accident investigation bureau in abuja to ascertain shortfalls of technology, cyber security and data management challenges.
Akinola Olateru in one of the reports blamed the pilot of the crashed augusta westland Aw139 helicopter operated by carveton company to conduct a VIP chartered flight from Nnamdi Azikwe international airport abuja to okene via Kabba on 2nd February 2019 which had Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo and his entourage on board, for non-adherence to procedures and limited landing site preparation.
