The newly appointed Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 9, AIG Kanayo Uzuegbu has commended Police operatives in the South East region for tackling “existential threats” of the outlawed separatist group in the region, saying IPOB agitation threats are “dying off”.
AIG Uzuegbu was speaking at the Ebonyi State Police Command Headquarters, Abakaliki during his maiden visit, charging the operatives to be professional in their conduct.
At an interactive session with officers and men of the Command, AIG Uzuegbu was emphatic on discipline and professionalism in the conduct of personnel.
The new AIG was impressed by the efforts of operatives in addressing the existential threats in the South East region, particularly the activities of the outlawed separatist agitation group, IPOB which according to him is dying off.
In a chat with journalists, AIG Uzuegbu described as unprofessional conduct a recent incident in which some personnel were captured on a viral video collecting handouts, warning officers that their job is guided by facts, and not fancy of personal practices.
The new AIG equally paid an official visit to the Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru where they held a closed door discussion on security matters of the State and the South East region of the country.
AIG Kanayo Uzuegbu was appointed last month by the Inspector-General of Police to superintend the Zone 9 covering Aba, Ebonyi and Imo States.
