The newly deployed Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of the Zone 9 Command, AIG Suleman Yusuf has visited the Ebonyi State Police formations under his command.
AIG Yusuf first call was the Government House, Abakaliki on a courtesy visit to Governor Francis Nwifuru, before other engagements at the State Command headquarters.
Governor Nwifuru told the senior Police officer that community policing remains the most effective approach towards checkmating pockets of heneious crimes and criminalities recorded in the society today.
The Ebonyi Governor highlights what he termed “intelligence and understanding the system” and the challenges faced when a personnel who is not from a locality is posted to an area.
He also speaks on the significance of having a reward programme for operatives of the Nigerian Police Force, which according to him would help motivate the operatives.
(“Some of us believe that, the Nigerian Police Force ought to seat down to look at operational management of the Force, because that is why many young men are no more interested to join the Nigerian Police Force.
I’m saying this because AIG is here and one of the Management team leaders, so he should take this to the IG. Your appreciation method is poor, some of these young Police officers would have been doing better if you have pure programmes to pay them back.

No! it doesn’t work. The person put his life on line, you need to appreciate that person so that others will be willing to join.
“If we love this country we should be proactive in settling and handling issues that concern the public. Also, talk to most of our leaders that are maning our checkpoints, it’s not bribe collecting center, it’s a disgrace to many Officers of NPF, especially when you see someone he doesn’t have money, he uses his..to transfer.”)
