The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, has stressed the need for effective knowledge and application of modern communication strategies to address emerging challenges in an increasingly complex, dynamic and highly contested environment.
Speaking at the 2026 Media Workshop organised by the Directorate of Public Relations and Information of the Nigerian Air Force in Abuja, Air Marshal Aneke said the information space has become strategic to the success of both tactical and strategic operations in modern warfare.
Effective communication and information management are critical to the success of any operation, including modern warfare.
This is because poor information management can have serious consequences for military operations, particularly in maintaining public confidence and support.
It is against this backdrop that the Chief of Air Staff is emphasising the need for effective communication and strategic media management to counter emerging threats and ensure the success of military operations.
The Director-General of the Voice of Nigeria, Jibrin Ndache, who also served as the guest speaker at the event, said the media should be regarded as strategic partners in the planning and execution of military operations.
The workshop brought together media professionals, academics and relevant stakeholders in the security sector to chart a way forward on the role of the media in the fight against insurgency and other security threats in Nigeria.
