An airpeace Aircraft has veered off the Runway at the Portharcourt International Airport on Sunday, as it tried to land with Passengers on board who boarded from Lagos Airport.
An eyewitness and a Labour Leader who himself was a passenger, Doctor Eze, sent the distress message below to AIT’s Abulu Osemuaghu accompanying it with a clip:
“We left Lagos to PH Airport with Airpeace 6: 40am flight on getting to PH Airport, the pilot landed and veered off the runway. On close observation, it was noticed that the Aircraft overshot the Runway. It took about 20 minutes before we could be disembarked through the rare door with a low gangway ladder and we were carried down by two men…”
AIT’s Abulu osemuaghu tried to confirm from Dr Eze if anyone was injured. He responded in the affirmative but could not say how many.
AIT is yet to get any reaction from AIR PEACE, on what could have caused the incident.
An Air Peace flight had in 2019 skidded off the Runway at the same Port Harcourt International Airport due to heavy rainfall and a flooded Runway.
The incident occurred on June 22, 2019, while landing Flight P47291 from Abuja. All passengers disembarked safely, and there were no casualties.
The Airline attributed the incident to the flooded runway.
