The Nigerian National Petroleum Company limited has assured that the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano, (AKK) Gas Pipeline Project will be completed by the first quarter of 2025.
NNPC Group Chief Executive Officer Mele Kyari, gave this assurance, during an inter-ministerial visit to the AKK Pipeline Project, Segment 2 in Kaduna.
A delegation of three cabinet ministers visited the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano Gas Pipeline Project site in Kaduna, to inspect the level of ongoing work at the Dankande AKK Gas Pipeline Project, Segment 2, Kaduna.
The delegation included Finance Minister and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun; Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Malagi; and Minister of State for Petroleum (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo.
Highlighting the benefits of the project, Finance Minister Wale Edun, described it as a “pipeline for prosperity.”
With the project now at an advanced stage of 90 percent completion, NNPC Limited’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Mele Kyari, expressed confidence that the project would be completed on schedule.
Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, represented by his deputy, Dr. Hadiza Balarabe, noted that the AKK gas pipeline would spur economic and industrial growth.
The completion date for the 614-kilometre AKK gas pipeline project, which was flagged off in 2020, has been delayed, due to several challenges, including COVID-19, insecurity, price escalation, and extreme weather conditions.
