The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has expressed doubts that those behind the killing of 16 soldiers in the Okuoma community are from the Niger-Delta region.
Akpabio has also asked the military to investigate and ascertain whether those behind the dastardly act are “mercenaries.“
In plenary on Tuesday, Akpabio said the Niger Delta is not at war, and that those behind the heinous crimes may have come from outside the country.

He, therefore, cautioned against any conclusions, until the outcome of investigations by the Senate committees on Army, Navy, Defence, and Air Force, in collaboration with the Army, unravelled the identities of the killers, and ensured they are brought to justice.
