President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has directed his legal team to withdraw all pending lawsuits against individuals he had previously accused of defamation, falsehood, and slander.
Akpabio gave the directive while speaking during the New Year service he attended at Sacred Heart Parish in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, South-South Nigeria.
He disclosed that he had filed nearly nine court cases over alleged defamatory statements but said his position changed after listening to the sermon delivered by the priest at the service.

According to Akpabio, the message inspired him to embrace forgiveness, leading to his decision to discontinue all legal actions and instruct his solicitors to formally withdraw the cases.
Although he did not mention specific individuals, Akpabio has been involved in a prolonged legal dispute with the senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan over allegations of sexual harassment and defamation.
