President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has congratulated Nigeria’s female National Football Team, the Super Falcons, on their record 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title following their thrilling 3-2 comeback victory against host Nation Morocco on Saturday night.
Akpabio, in a statement issued through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, expressed pride in the team’s performance, describing their resilience, unity, and determination as key ingredients in their historic win.
He commended the players for their unwavering commitment to excellence and for once again bringing glory to the Nation.
He likened the Super Falcons’ dramatic comeback to some of Nigeria’s most iconic moments in sports history, including the famous Saudi ‘88 Daman Miracle and the triumph of the Dream Team at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
He said the latest victory by the Super Falcons rekindles national pride and reinforces the enduring spirit of the Nigerian people.
Akpabio extended his felicitations to President Bola Tinubu, and to all Nigerians on the achievement.
He reaffirmed the National Assembly’s commitment to supporting sports development through legislative backing and adequate funding, while celebrating the Super Falcons for making the Nation proud once again.
