Akwa Ibom gets seven brand new Commissioners, Special Adviser

Seven new commissioners and a Special Adviser have been formally sworn in to join the state’s Executive Council.

At the ceremony in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital, South South Nigeria, Governor Udom Emmanuel charged them to put in their best as the times are challenging.

He says that bringing in new Exco members is to reengineer the wheel of governance.

He asked them to rise up to the occasion.

The governor also admonished them against using their positions to serve personal interests.

He remarked that it was not possible to appoint Commissioners from all the 31 local government areas and appealed for understanding from people from areas without commissioners.

The new commissioners are the former Vice-Chancellor of the State University, Prof Eno Ibanga, former Chairman of Eket LGA, and ALGON Chairman, Frank Archibong.

Others are Professor Augustine Umoh, Dr. Ini Adiakpan, Enobong Mbobo, former Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ini Ememobong, Dr. Imo Moffat, and Amanam Nkanga, who is appointed Special Adviser.

The governor also announce the appointment of the Commissioner for Education, Professor Nse Essien as the Vice Chancellor of the Akwa Ibom State University.
