Akwa Ibom Governor, Umo Eno says his decision to fly the state-owned airline, Ibom Air and not use the Governor’s private jet was to market anything about the state and to demystify governance.
Governor Eno said this in Uyo, the state capital on arrival from official engagements in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
On his way out of the state for official engagements, Governor Umo Eno had abandoned the use of the State Government-owned private jet which had been used by his predecessors. He instead chose to fly in the state government-owned commercial airline, Ibom Air.
This actioned set tongues wagging but the Governor pointed out that it was meant to promote the state. He laughed off suggestions that his predecessor, Udom Emmanuel was still holding on to the state-owned private jet.
The Governor, who had travelled with some government officials, also returned to the state with Ibom Air.
