Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno wants the State public service to be repositioned for teamwork and bridging of gaps between policy proposals and actual implementation of programmes and projects within specific timelines to align with the intentions of Government.
Governor Eno made this known in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital when he declared open a five day workshop for top public servants in the State.
In recognition of the fact that public servants play a critical role in the life of any administration, Governor Eno had always harped on training and retraining to build capacity.
For this reason, the State government is collaborating with the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria, ASCON, Lagos to organize a workshop to train Permanent Secretaries and Directors in the State’s public service on leadership and good governance.
Governor Eno in declaring the workshop open, called for the repositioning of the State public service for efficiency and productivity.
The Director General of ASCON, Cecilia Gayya and the Head of the Akwa Ibom State Civil Service, Effiong Essien commended the Governor for his vision and efforts at retooling the public service.
By bringing the training to the State, the Akwa Ibom State government has opened a window for more persons to be trained and cut the cost of sponsoring them to Lagos for the same purpose.
