Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule has challenged the people of Akwanga Local Government to continue to embrace peace and harmony just as security agencies are been commended for their efforts towards sustaining peace and maintenance of order.
Sule said this in Lafia, the state capital while performing the swearing-in of Safiyanu Isa as the new Executive Chairman of Akwanga Local Government Council.

According to the Governor, this was in fulfilment of the provision of Section 31 (1) of the Local Government Law 2018 and the Nasarawa State Legal Notice Nos 5, 2018, following the sudden demise of the former chairman, Emmanuel Joseph Leweh, who died on Thursday, January 13, 2020 at a private hospital in Abuja.

Sule charged Safiyanu Isa, who was the Deputy Chairman of the Council, to uphold the virtues of the administration anchored on the principles of transparency, accountability, probity and prudent management of public resources.

The need to sustain the path of progress and development already established by his predecessor was emphasized with a call on him to always collaborate with the Ministry for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, in the execution of his policies and programmes, aimed at accelerating the development of the Council.
Sule equally paid tribute to the late Emmanuel Joseph Leweh, praying for the repose of his soul.
The new chairman , Safiyanu Isa, assured the Governor of strict adherence to the administration’s mantra of prudence and accountability.
