Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III

The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, has died at the age of 83.

He died in the late hours of Friday at the Afe Babalola University Teaching Hospital in Ado Ekiti, capital of Ekiti State, South-West Nigeria.

The late Alaafin of Oyo was the third from the Alowodu Ruling House of the Oyo Kingdom in Oyo State.

The remains of the top Yoruba traditional ruler were returned to Oyo in the early hours of Saturday for traditional rites and burial.

The longest reigning Alaafin of Oyo who was on the throne of his ancestors for 52 years will be buried on Saturday according to Islamic injunctions.
