The Immediate Past Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics) of the Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike Ikwo, Ebonyi State, Professor Sunday Elom, has emerged as the new Vice-Chancellor of the institution.
Elom, a Professor of Medical Biochemistry, takes over from Prof. Chinedum Nwajiuba whose five year tenure will elapse on February 10, 2021.
This is contained in a statement issued on Tuesday, by the Registrar of the University, Odisa Okeke.

The statement noted that the appointment of Prof. Elom as Vice Chancellor was based on the report and recommendation from the Joint Council/Senate Selection Board, constituted for the purpose in line with the University’s Miscellaneous Provisions (Amendment) Acts 2003.
The 60-year old academician who hails from Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, becomes the third substantive and the first indigenous Vice Chancellor of the Federal government owned University.
