The police say it is investigating and will apprehend anyone found culpable in the lynching and burning of one Ahmad Usman for alleged blasphemy by a mob at the Federal Housing Estate Lugbe, in the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.
In a statement by the Police Public Relations officer of FCT Command, Josephine Adeh, the deceased was said to have gotten into an argument with a cleric whose name is yet unknown from the same area which resulted to outbreak of violence that led to his being set ablaze. His murder and setting ablaze by the enraged mob was reportedly mobilised by the clergyman.

The police deployed a surveillance team to the scene to rescue the enflamed victim, and evacuate him to a hospital but due to severe burns suffered he was confirmed dead by a Doctor.
The Commissioner of Police, Babaji Sunday in the statement while warning against the indiscriminate act of self-help in obtaining justice known as Jungle justice, said adequate sanctions will be meted on those found to be responsible for the crude and dastardly act.
The FCT police spokesperson has confirmed to ait.live that no suspect has been arrested over the incident.
