A Chief Magistrates Court sitting in Kano has ordered the remand of a former Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Idris Wada, in Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission custody, over an alleged N1 billion fraud.
The defendant, a Commissioner in former governor Abdullahi Ganduje’s administration, is standing trial on a two-count charge, bordering on false information and cheating.

The Prosecutor, Assistant Director of Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, Salisu Tahir filed an ex parte motion, urging the court to remand the defendant in custody for 14 days to enable them to complete the investigation.
Chief Magistrate Tijjani Sale ordered the remand of the defendants in the Anti-Corruption Commission’s custody for 12 days.
He adjourned the matter until July 14 for ruling on a bail application by the defendant.
