The Benue State Police Command has debunked the report of a trending recovery of worn-out Naira notes in the Wadata Area of Makurdi, the state capital.
A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Sewuese Anene, confirmed that on Tuesday, a Police Division in Makurdi received information, that hidden Naira notes were recovered from Police Barracks Wadata.

However, when police detectives were sent on an investigation to the scene, they recovered wasted papers in a shop close to Wadata Police Barracks, Makurdi.
Anene identified the shop owner as Isah Suleiman, who was invited for questioning, and he tendered a licence issued to him by the Central Bank of Nigeria, (CBN), for waste management.
Sulieman claims that the wasted papers are usually gotten from CBN and processed as mosquito repellents.
“Investigation has been extended to CBN for confirmation.”She concluded.
