Alleviating Plight Of The Poor : Group Targets To Feed 10,000 Vulnerable People In Zamfara

A group in Zamfara State Northwest Nigeria has started feeding patients in hospitals and inmates at correctional centres to ameliorate the hardship which, according to them, occasioned by the hunger being experienced in the country.

The group says it targeted ten thousand vulnerable, less privileged persons and prison inmates who can not cope with the current economic situation enveloping the country.

The coordinator of the group in Zamfara State, Mikailu Barau, said this explains why they embarked on such Humanitarian intervention to contribute its quotas in alleviating the plight of the poor, especially patients at the various hospitals, Starting with Federal Medical Centre Gusau.

He said they could not fold their arms watching the poor who can hardly get one square meal a day due to the current economic hardship and the insecurity bedevilling Zamfara State, and push many into the poverty line, hence the feeding of the poor and vulnerable people in the State.

The group identified as Mentorship Forum which comprises young people who were sponsored to study overseas. They have returned and decided to give back to their communities, the distribution of the prepared food to the needy was one of the ways they can support and appreciate their sponsor.
