Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi says elites and journalists are responsible for Nigeria’s problems.

Amaechi said this in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital while speaking as the special guest of Honour at activities to mark the world press freedom day.

It is world press freedom day and the Akwa Ibom state council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists NUJ joined journalists the world over to mark the day with the theme “Journalism Under Surveillance “

The Special Guest of Honour at the event and minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi maintained that the poor are not the problems of Nigeria.

Amaechi challenged the public, particularly journalists to hold public office holders accountable if the country must move forward.

The former Rivers state governor charged journalists to clean up their acts in order to maintain the credibility of the profession.

Commissioner for information, Ini Ememobong made a case for a Southern President.

Chairman of Akwa Ibom state council of the NUJ, Amos Etuk decried the threats experienced by journalists and called for a conducive atmosphere for them to carry out their jobs.
