The American University of Nigeria has held its 12th commencement ceremony for the class of 2020 and 2021 in Yola, the Adamawa State capital.

In attendance was the founder of the institution, who was also Nigeria’s former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar.

Other dignitaries included the President of the African Development Bank Group, Akinwumi Adesina, Adamawa State Governor and the governor of Plateau State, as well as Media Mogul, High Chief Raymond Dokpesi.

The President of the African Development Bank Group, Akinwumi Adesina, who served as the institution’s 12th Annual Commencement Speaker, was conferred with an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Humane Letters.

Akinwumi Adesina commended the founder of the American University of Nigeria, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, for establishing an institution, where Africa and world diversity are accommodated.

He urged Nigerians to strive for unity, not ethnic or religious diversity.

As they begin a new phase in their lives, the graduates have been tasked to serve humanity, and make a difference, wherever they find themselves.
