ANAMBRA

As the judicial workers, industrial strike enters the third day Members of the judicial Staff Union of Nigeria, Anambra state chapter, say there is no going back until the Government obeys the court order and grants financial autonomy to the Nation’s judiciary.

From the federal to the state high court, as well as industrial courts in Anambra state, the story is the same, gates to the offices of the courts are under lock and key.

Jude Igwebuike is the chairman of the judicial staff Union of Nigeria Anambra state branch, For him, implementation of financial autonomy for the country’s judiciary is long overdue as such will benefit both government and the people, as the saying goes that “Judiciary is the hope of the common man”

Chibunna Okoli-Akirika an Awka based legal practitioner, described the actions by members of the judicial staff Union of Nigeria as a legitimate demand while urging Government to as matter of urgency grant financial autonomy to the judiciary as well as pay peculiar allowances to the judicial workers

As the strike embarked upon by the members of the judicial staff Union of Nigeria lingers and the court rooms remain closed nobody knows how long those seeking justice at the law court will wait.
