The Anambra Police command says it has smashed a suspected secessionist camp, killing four suspects and rescued a kidnapped victim.
In a Press statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, He explained that Police operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu in collaboration with the Anambra State Vigilante Group who acted on intelligence undertook an operation that lasted for over 15 hours at Awa in Orumba North LGA, of the State.
The statement said the victim’s family despite paying Twenty million Naira ransom, the kidnapped victim was not released by his abductors.
SP Ikenga further stated that in the fierce gun battle that ensued, “Four Criminal elements” were killed, two pump action guns, one fabricated AK-47 rifle, One K2 assault rifle, one locally made hunter gun, a radio transmission box, three locally made Improvised Explosive devices (IEDs), A black Lexus RX 350 jeep with Reg Number ACA 340 MA, three Toyota Camry cars with Reg. Nos: ABC 268 FQ, EKY 151 CD and FGG 706 ME, A black Toyota Camry car as well as five mobile phones were among items recovered.
The statement went further to assure the public of the Anambra State commissioner of police, Ikioye Orutugu’s commitment to ensuring safety and security of the people, assuring that extensive operations are ongoing in the Orumba South Area to track and arrest other fleeing suspects.
