The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has been urged to fix a date for the conduct of a bye election to allow the people of Anambra south Senatorial district choose their new representative in the Senate following the death of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah.
This demand is coming from people of the senatorial district, particularly the Coalition of Anambra South Progressives, who say the death of senator Ifeanyi Ubah about seven months ago has created a vacuum that has denied them the dividends of democracy as well as left the people without a voice at the Senate.
Speaking to journalists in Awka the Anambra State Capital, they said INEC should as a matter of urgency set the stage by fixing a date and ensuring a level playing ground for all political parties to participate during the bye election.
