The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC in Anambra State, South East Nigeria says all necessary measures would be deployed to ensure peaceful and credible polls for the two Federal Hose of Representatives re-run elections, scheduled for February 3, 2024.

The State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Queen Agu gave the assurance while briefing Newsmen in Awka, the State capital, on the level of preparedness of the electoral body for the coming polls.

Agu disclosed that the exercise will hold in twenty one polling units spread across the two federal constituencies of; Nnewi North/South/Ekwusigo Federal constituency and the Orumba North/South Federal constituency of the State.

On the worrisome issue of security, the REC stated that the Commission has the support of all the security agencies in the State to ensure a hitch free exercise.

She is encouraging the people to come out and cast their votes for their preferred candidate, adding that no one should allow him or herself to be used as a thug, before, during and after the election.

The people of the affected two Federal constituencies of Ekwusigo, Nnewi North and South, as well as Orumba North and South Federal constituencies, are expected to vote in a re-run election to choose who will represent them at the Federal House of Representatives after the Appeal court voided the 2023 elections in parts of the areas.
