The disagreement between drivers of the heavy-duty vehicles, popularly known as tipper drivers and the Anambra state government, has continued unabated as the drivers took to the street of Awka in a protest

The protesters say they are still being extorted, intimidated and brutalized by the agents of the state government contrary to the federal high court judgment which stopped the collection of a certain levies

The rift of the collection of the levies dates back to 2014.

For about seven years, the drivers have on several occasions protested in major towns of the state.

The state Secretary General Prof Solo Chukwulobelu insisted that the government reserved the right to collect certain taxes as permitted by the law.
