The disagreement between drivers of the heavy-duty vehicles, popularly known as tipper drivers and the Anambra state government, has continued unabated as the drivers took to the street of Awka in a protest
The protesters say they are still being extorted, intimidated and brutalized by the agents of the state government contrary to the federal high court judgment which stopped the collection of a certain levies
The rift of the collection of the levies dates back to 2014.
For about seven years, the drivers have on several occasions protested in major towns of the state.
The state Secretary General Prof Solo Chukwulobelu insisted that the government reserved the right to collect certain taxes as permitted by the law.

He however appealed for calmn promising that Government will as matter of urgency find a lasting solution to the issue
The effort of the state government to resolve the problem in 2020 failed as the drivers refused to join the Anambra State Tipper Association, ASTA created by the state government late last year.
