Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo and his deputy, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, have taken the oath of office for their second four-year term in office.
Both the oath of office and allegiance administered by the State Chief Judge at the Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, Anambra State, were witnessed by Vice President Kashim Shettima, former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, as well as the former Commonwealth Secretary General, Emeka Anyaoku, among other top dignitaries from across the country.
Having been declared winners of the November 8, 2025 off-cycle governorship election in Anambra State, South-East Nigeria by INEC, Governor Chukwuma Soludo and his deputy, Onyekachukwu Ibezim have been inaugurated for a second term in office.
This symbolic event marks the commencement of another four year-term with constitutional limit, having been similarly sworn-in for the first time in 2022.
Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, described Governor Soludo as a true democrat who despite party lines has demonstrated leadership and redemption of the people of the State.
Governor Soludo recalls the promise he made to the people of Anambra State on inauguration in 2022, which was to work 24/7 and his declaration of emergency in areas that needed urgent attention, believing that he has kept to that social contract in the past four years.

Soludo says the administration has made significant progress in laying a strong foundation for the actualisation of the Vision 2070 development master plan of Anambra State, with a renewed vigor of driving the Africa-Dubai-Taiwan-Silicon Valley project.
Former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, as well as the former Secretary General of the Commonwealth, Chief Emeka Anyaoku gave goodwill messages at the event.
The expectedly colourful ceremony was attended by religious leaders, traditional rulers, the political and economic class, the state labour unions, captains of industries, and security chiefs.
