The Joint Council of Anglican Bishops in South East is calling on governors of the region to urgently establish a regional security outfit to address the rising insecurity in the zone.

Speaking at Government House Owerri during a visit, the Bishops urged Governor Hope Uzodinma to mobilize his colleagues and actualize the security needs of the people.

The worsening security situation across the country is becoming worrisome, hence the call for regional arrangements to compliment the already overstretched security agencies in the Country.

Led by the Archbishop of the Enugu Ecclesiastical province, Anglican Communion, the Most Rev. Emmanuel Chukwuma, the group demanded the urgent establishment of a regional security outfit.to tackle insecurity in the zone.

For Governor Hope Uzodinma, the demand of the Bishops is the right step to take in order to curb the insecurity situation in the country.

They also asked for unity in the ranks of Ohanaeze Ndigbo world-wide, noting that “once Ohanaeze is united, the nation is safe”.

This is not the first time a body from the south east is calling for regional security for the zone, the onus now lies with leaders from the zone.
