Another fire incident has occurred at Dosumu Market off Idumagbo Avenue in Lagos.
It affected four buildings, causing them to collapse under the intense heat, as the fire spread to surrounding buildings.
This latest fire incident is coming barely 24 hours after a section of the Balogun Market, a cosmetic and hair section, located at Issah Williams Street, off Breadfruit, was engulfed by fire that torched 3 warehouses, 20 built-up shops, in a 3-story building.
It also affected 86 traders and lasted several hours.
Though the main cause of the fire incident has not been confirmed, market leaders at Balogun have decried the too many power generators that the traders use during the day.
The National Emergency Management Agency, (NEMA) South-west Coordinator, Ibrahim Farinloye, explained in his statement over the latest fire incident at Dosumu Market, that emergency responders who rushed to the scene of the incident battled to prevent the fire from spreading any further.
He made no mention of any casualties or injuries sustained by anyone during the incident.
This fire incident, and especially the multi-billion Naira markets on Lagos Island, is one too many in recent times.
This latest fire, no doubt will draw the attention of the authorities concerned, and indeed, the traders themselves, for a dialogue on preventing such incidents in the future.
